In this video, we look at the second submenu within the Machine button: Machine Function. To open this menu, we use the up-down button to move the cursor next to Machine Function, then press Set. This takes us into the Functions menu, where we can change the Flat Cap setting based on how the machine is currently configured.
The Flat Cap function is used when we convert the machine for sewing either flats or caps. The last word shown on the screen should match the machine’s setup. If we are sewing with the regular border frame or standard tubular arms, the setting should be flat. If we are using the cap driver, the setting should be cap. When the machine is set for caps, it adjusts the pantograph slightly and, most importantly, automatically changes a recalled design to a 180-degree angle.
To change the setting, we make sure the cursor is next to Flat Cap and press Set. If we are installing the tubular arms, we select flats, which is a value of zero. If we are installing the cap driver, we select caps. In the example shown, we press number one on the numeric keypad and then press Set, which changes the machine over for sewing caps.
If you're switching between flat and cap setups, GPI's hoops and hoopers collection is the most relevant place to look next.
