In this video, we explain how the trim button on the SWF embroidery machine control panel is used to perform a manual trim. A manual trim tells the machine to cut the thread and add a lock stitch first, which helps keep the embroidery from unraveling. This creates a cleaner, more secure finish than cutting the thread by hand in the sewing field with scissors.
To use the trim function, we simply press the trim button. The display then asks whether we want to run the trim function. If we want to proceed, we press the start switch. If we want to cancel the trim function instead, we press previous.
When we choose to run the trim function, the machine executes the trim automatically. We will notice that the machine sews before it actually trims, and that sewing action is the lock stitch being placed before the thread is cut.
Because manual trims affect thread control and clean cuts, it's smart to pair this with quality Madeira embroidery thread.
