How to Adjust Trim Length on an SWF Embroidery Machine

In this video, we explain the trim length function and how it affects stitch quality after a trim is performed. The trim length determines how long the thread tail is after trimming. If the trim length is set too short, the thread can pull out of the eye of the needle before the first stitch is made. If it is set too long, the machine can leave a thread tail visible on the front of the embroidery instead of pulling it to the underside.

To adjust the setting, we use the up-down button to move the cursor next to the trim length option, then press the set button. We then enter the desired value using the numeric keypad. A value of 0 sets the trim length to short, 1 sets it to medium, and 2 sets it to long.

In this example, we set the trim length to medium by entering a value of 1. This is the standard default setting on these machines and is typically where they run best. After entering the value, we press set again to lock in the adjustment.

If trim length issues are leaving thread tails, good embroidery thread can also make cleanup easier.
