How to Replace the Embroidery Machine Color Change Motor

In this video, we show how to replace the color change motor by first removing the covers around the head. We remove the screw on one side in the front and on the top, move the head to the opposite side using plus 10 and 5, and then remove the front and top screws on that side. We then remove the cover on the back of the head for more room and take off the support bracket. To do that, we place the head in the number one needle position, remove the screw at one end, loosen the screw on the other side without fully removing it, and slide the bracket out of the way so the cover can come off the color change motor.

Next, we remove the plastic cover at the back to gain access to the screws holding the color change motor in place. After exposing the motor, we remove the mounting screws and free the motor from the machine. To reach the electrical connection, we raise the thread tree by removing the front two screws, the middle two screws, and the back two screws. Before lifting it, we make sure the motor is free and place a support under the thread rack, such as a can or box, so it can rest safely while we work.

With the thread rack supported, we follow the wire coming from the motor down to the connection, snip the wire tie, and disconnect the plug. We then reconnect it, making sure the connection is seated very tightly, and replace the wire tie. After that, we set the wires back into place carefully so the thread rack can come back down without crushing any wires or connections.

To finish, we line up the color change motor, set it in place, and reinstall the screws. Once the motor is secured, the remaining step is to reassemble the covers and brackets that were removed earlier.
