How to Remove the Potentiometer on an Embroidery Machine

In this video, we remove the potentiometer, or pot, from the end of the color change motor assembly. To access it, we first remove the color change motor cover by taking out the two screws on one end, moving the head to the opposite end, and removing the two screws on the other side. We then take the back cover off the head for extra room, move the head again, loosen the bar, remove one screw completely, leave the other slightly loose, and lift the bracket out of the way so the cover comes off easily.

Once the color change motor cover is removed, the potentiometer is exposed at the back of the assembly. This area includes three components: the potentiometer itself, the half-turn sensor, and the sensing wheel that reads the half turn. To remove the potentiometer, we use a 2 mm Allen wrench to loosen the half-turn sensor, and then the entire potentiometer pulls straight out.

If the sensor on the half-turn unit needs to be replaced, we remove the two Phillips head screws and take that sensor off the unit. From there, the next step is to access the potentiometer connection, which is located underneath the thread rack.
