How to Remove, Install, and Adjust an Embroidery Machine Wiper

In this video, we remove the wiper by pulling the arm down and loosening the Allen head screw with a 2.5 mm Allen wrench. We then hold the wiper blade, remove the nut with a 10 mm box wrench, and take the wiper out of the guide in the bill guard. With the old blade removed from the holder, we place the new wiper blade into the holder and feed it back through the guide in the bill guard.

We then reinstall the nut and tighten it carefully with the 10 mm box wrench. We make sure not to over-tighten it, since that can either snap the part or cause the wiper to bind. If needed, we back the nut off slightly until the wiper moves smoothly and freely through the guide.

To adjust the wiper, we first confirm that it has a straight, smooth path through the bill guard guide. We also make sure it is not shifted too far to the left or right, which can cause binding as it travels through. Once the position is correct, we pull the arm down, lightly seat the Allen head screw, verify that the wiper still moves freely, and then finish tightening it.

As a final adjustment, we can loosen the Phillips head screws on the lower Velcro strip and bracket to move them slightly forward, backward, or up and down until the wiper moves with light resistance and stays free. We check this at both ends of the embroidery head by testing needle position 15, then position 1, and finally a middle position such as needle 7 or 8. When the wiper moves freely in all positions, the adjustment is complete.

If you’re servicing the wiper and nearby thread-trim area, it helps to have basic embroidery supplies on hand.
