In this video, we reinstall the deck and the front plate, then begin fitting the picker solenoid. The solenoid is disconnected from the linkage that connects to the picker and positioned so the small screw faces up, which makes reassembly easier and helps avoid bending the linkage. We then guide it through the front of the bed arm, making sure it is oriented correctly with the bend facing down.
Next, we set the new solenoid in place, pull the linkage forward so it stays out of the way, and install the mounting Allen screws. Once the solenoid is positioned, we reconnect the linkage by starting the screw and shifting the linkage slightly until it falls into place. After that connection is made, we reinstall the top screw, which also secures the self-oiling tube, and then put the bracket back in place.
We then reconnect the linkage on the picker. To make that step easier, we may remove the cover around the rotary hook area first. After lining up the linkage, we start the screw, tighten the linkage, and then fully tighten the picker solenoid mounting screws. Finally, we reinstall the covers, including the bed arm cover, needle plate, and rotary hook area cover. Before tightening the bed arm cover completely, we make sure any trimmer linkage is reconnected if it has come off. Once everything is secured, the picker solenoid replacement is complete.
After reinstalling the picker solenoid, it’s smart to stock up on practical embroidery supplies for follow-up adjustments.
