How to Install and Set the Potentiometer on an Embroidery Machine

In this video, we remove the rod from the metallic thread setup and lift the thread rack up and out of the way. We support the rack with a box, can, or other stable item so it stays balanced while we work. We then follow the wire to its connection, snip the wire tie, disconnect and reconnect the plug, and make sure the connection is seated tightly. After that, we tuck the wire back into place so the thread cover can be reinstalled, and the potentiometer is replaced.

We then check whether the potentiometer is set properly. We turn the machine off and back on, and as soon as the loading screen clears, we press and hold the EMB call button and setting button at the same time. From there, we go to CC setting and press the set key. The screen shows the current needle position, and we confirm which needle is over the needle plate. We then rotate the half-turn sensor until the display changes from off to on.

With the half-turn sensor on, we pull the potentiometer out and turn the small shaft in the center until the display changes to the correct needle number. Once the display matches the needle position, we turn it a little farther, set the potentiometer back into place, and push it in snugly without overtightening it. The bracket keeps it from spinning, so we then reseat and tighten the Allen screw, making small adjustments if needed until it is secure and the reading remains correct.

To finish, we exit the setting screen and test the machine by moving through several needle positions. We confirm that the head stops correctly at each needle, then continue through all needles to verify proper alignment. Once each needle stops at the proper location, we know the potentiometer has been installed and set successfully.

After potentiometer replacement, having a few core embroidery supplies nearby can help with final machine setup.
