In this video, we introduce the design trace function found within the sub work button and explain how it helps confirm that a design will fit within the hoop area before sewing.
We use the up-down control to move the cursor next to design trace, then press the set button. The machine indicates that we should watch needle number one, and we then press the start button while watching its relationship to the hoop.
As the trace runs, the machine uses the furthest X and Y perimeter points of the design to form a rectangular box. We watch to make sure that this rectangular box stays within the hoop area. In this example, the design does not fit, so we press the previous button to exit the trace function.
When the traced box falls outside the hoop area, we then either choose a larger hoop or reduce the size of the design before proceeding.
Tracing is much easier to trust when the design is hooped correctly, so take a look at hoops and hoopers.
