How to Use Optimized Trace on an SWF Embroidery Machine

In this video, we demonstrate how to use the Optimized Trace feature on an SWF embroidery machine. Optimized Trace is one of two trace options, the other being Design Trace, but it is more accurate because it follows the actual perimeter of the design instead of tracing a rectangular box around it.

To use Optimized Trace, we use the up-down button to move the cursor next to Optimize Trace, and we then press the Set button. The screen displays Design Calculate while the machine calculates the X-Y points along the outer edge of the design.

Once that calculation is complete, the screen shows Frame Trace and provides a reference needle. We watch only the needle in the sewing position as the trace runs. While watching needle number one in relation to the hoop, we press the Start button and confirm that it stays within the boundaries of the selected hoop.

If the trace fits correctly, we press the Previous button to commit the setting. We are then out of the trace function and ready to begin sewing the design.

Optimized Trace is most useful when paired with the correct frame size, so check out hoops and hoopers.
