How to Use the FDD Button for Floppy Disk Management on an Embroidery Machine

In this video, we explain the simple floppy disk management functions available through the FDD button. We use this menu to save a design from the machine memory to a floppy disk, delete individual designs from a floppy disk, or reformat an entire disk when we want to clear it completely.

To use FDD save, we move the cursor with the up-down buttons until it is next to FDD save, then press the set button. We then choose the design from the list of designs stored in the machine memory and press set again. The machine asks which format to use for saving the design, and in this example we select Tejima format with the up-down buttons and press set. The machine then writes the embroidery file to the floppy disk, which may take a moment depending on the file size.

To use FDD delete, we move the cursor to FDD delete and press the set button. The machine then asks for the format being used. In this example, we press the previous button because we are not using DOS, Barrett & FMC, FDR, or ZSK format. After the disk contents appear, we move the cursor to the design we want to remove and press set to delete it. When the list of names appears again, we can press the previous button unless we want to delete additional designs.

To format a floppy disk, we move the cursor to FDD format and press the set button. The machine then asks for confirmation before reformatting the disk. If we want to continue, we leave the cursor on yes and press set. In this example, we do not want to format the disk, so we move the cursor to no with the up-down buttons and press the set button.
