Toyota ESP 9100 LED Control Panel Settings Part 2

In this video, we continue Part 2 of the Toyota ESP 9100 LED control panel series by reviewing additional machine settings. We begin with option number nine, Trim Length. This setting controls the thread tail length after a trim is performed, which is the thread tail the wiper grabs and pulls back up through the machine's Velcro strip. Next, we move to option number 10, Trim Timing. This is normally set at zero and adjusts when the thread begins to cut. In most cases, this setting does not need to be changed, but when working with metallic thread, we can use the left arrow key to adjust the setting to negative 10 or 11, then press Set to confirm. This helps the machine cut metallic threads more reliably.

We then move into the optional attachment settings: Boring, Cording, and Sequin. The boring option is used with an optional attachment for projects where an area of fabric needs to be cut and removed, and the boring device should be installed on the rightmost needle, needle number 15. The cording option is also for an optional attachment, and that device should be installed on the leftmost needle, needle number 1. The final option is the sequin device, another optional attachment that modifies needle number 1 to sew sequins instead of thread.

After pressing Escape and then the Hoop key, we enter the hoop menu. The first option is Hoop Mode, where we can change between flat, cap, sleeve attachments, border frame, X pantograph, and back to flat. After making a selection, we press Set to confirm, and the machine will reboot. The second option is Initialization, which sets the hoop position when the machine is turned on. The third option is Start Point Return Mode, which determines the hoop position after the design is embroidered and returns it to the previous start point. Once the job is finished, it will return to the start or center point of that design, and it is recommended to leave this setting on Manual.

Next, we review Manual Speed, which sets the hoop travel speed when operating the machine manually. We can adjust this between 1 for low speed, 2 for medium speed, and 3 for high speed. It is recommended to leave manual speed on 1 or 2 when sewing in flat mode, and to change it to 3 when sewing in cap mode. Hoop Timing controls the hoop drive start timing, and Auto is the recommended setting. At 250 degrees, the hoop drive always starts at a 250-degree angle. Offset Mode allows the hoop to travel automatically to a predetermined position, which is helpful when setting up appliqué jobs. We can press the Move Hoop key and use the arrow keys to position the frame, then press Set to confirm and Move Hoop again to return the machine to center. Finally, Trace Mode offers line trace and rectangular trace options. The machine defaults to rectangular trace, but it is recommended on the Toyota 9100 to change this to line trace, as it provides a more accurate tracing method and helps ensure the needle does not strike the hoop.

Because this section touches hoop menu adjustments and attachments, it makes sense to review GPI’s hoops and hoopers.
