In this video, we demonstrate the proper way to thread the Toyota ESP 9100 embroidery machine. The machine has three different rows, or levels, of thread, and the needle numbers run from back to front as 1 through 15. When threading, we follow the level of the needle position: the front level goes through one eyelet, the second level goes through two eyelets, and the back row, or third level, goes through all three eyelets.
We begin by using the threader found in the Toyota accessory kit and running it up through the tubing at the top. There is a small notch where we place the embroidery thread, then pull the thread down through the tubing. Once it is secure, we remove it from the threader and continue through the rest of the machine.
Next, we press down on one side of the thread guides, lay the thread underneath, and wrap it halfway around the first post. We pass the thread underneath the main tensioner units, around the other side of the post, and pull the excess thread downward. From there, we go underneath the hook, over the arm, and make a half turn around the thread sensors. After opening the front faceplate, we move down to the other side of the post, push up on the guide again, secure the thread underneath, and pull more excess thread down.
We then pass the thread through one side of the posts, through the take-up spring, up to the other side of the post, and from right to left through the take-up arm. After pulling more excess thread down, we go through the eyelet, making sure the thread passes behind the metal rod. If the machine has the optional thread break light kit installed, we go behind it as well. Finally, we bring the thread down to the last eyelet, around the retainer hook, and forward to the needle. To finish, we thread the needle from front to back, bring the excess into the take-up spring so it can trim the extra thread, and the machine is properly threaded.
