In this video, we demonstrate tips and tricks for hooping a jacket back on a table. We begin by making sure the bottom part of the hoop is resting on a flat surface, and we note that this is a tabletop hoop rather than a tubular hoop.
We then lay the backing over the bottom part of the hoop and place the garment over the backing, making sure the backing stays positioned over the hoop. We smooth out the garment and check that it is evenly placed before setting the top part of the hoop onto the garment.
To seat the hoop properly, we start at the top and work our way down using pressure from the lower palm of our hands. Once the top of the hoop is sandwiched with the garment and the bottom hoop, we go around the hoop and gently pull out wrinkles and air pockets so the garment is as smooth as possible.
We also point out that pulling too much on the garment can stretch the fabric. For thick or hard-to-hoop materials, we may need to start at the top of the hoop with our hands and work our way down with our elbows.
