In this video, we review the main tools found along the top of the desktop in digitizing software. We begin with New, which opens a new work area for creating a design, and Open, which loads a design that has been saved on the computer. We also cover Edit Fonts, which opens the font editing window, Save, which updates the active design to the hard drive, and Print, which prints the current design.
We then look at the database and organization tools. Design Database stores designs, while Add Design to Database is used to add designs into that system. Job Database stores customer contact information and jobs in one location. Design Locator helps find a saved design by showing a thumbnail image and the directory where the file is located.
Next, we cover tools used to review and edit the design itself. Design Information provides details on objects within the design and allows changes to each color sequence. Sequence displays the color stitch-out order for the design in the work area. We also review Group Objects and Ungroup Objects, along with display options such as Wire Frame, which shows or hides the wire frame, Display Stitches, which turns stitches on or off, and Real View, which shows simulated embroidery on a variety of fabrics.
Finally, we explain preparation tools for production. Prepare for Embroidery changes the design into a machine language and assigns a job number. We also mention Prepare for Expert Stitch Manager, which works with a separate software program used to prepare embroidery for Toyota embroidery machines.
When your design is ready to run, find the finishing essentials in general embroidery supplies.
