How to Convert Vector Art to Embroidery Stitches in Melco DesignShop

In this video, we show how to take vector art and digitize it so it is embroidery-ready in Melco DesignShop. We begin by opening an EPS file, which can be saved from Illustrator or CorelDRAW. Once the vector artwork is open, we select the design and click the Convert button. DesignShop then instantly creates stitches from the vector art while leaving the original vector version underneath.

We then preview the result by switching to the 3D stitch view, where we can see the generated stitches. We also use the Play function to watch how the design will actually sew out, which provides a helpful stitch simulation of the finished file.

Next, we demonstrate how to add a finished edge around the design. After selecting the element, we use the button for changing from one stitch type to another and choose Single Line Center as the second stitch type. In the options below, we can either Add or Replace. By choosing Add, we place a satin stitch around the edge while keeping the original fill stitch in place. The example shows a satin edge added around the coffee cup, and then compares that process with replacing a fill stitch on another element, such as the creamer, with a satin stitch.
