How to Create Two-Color Lettering in Melco DesignShop Pro

In this video, we show how to take keyboard lettering in Melco DesignShop Pro and turn it into two-color lettering. We begin by creating a new file, adding simple block lettering, and zooming in on the first letter. Using the Fill Stitch tool, we plot one continuous vector shape around each letter, then use Change Element Type to add a single line center around it. This works because each letter must be one continuous shape; standard column stitch lettering is made of separate elements, so adding a single line center directly to it would create unwanted outlines around every individual piece.

After tracing each letter as a fill stitch, we delete the original lettering and apply the single line center to the new shapes. Before doing that, we can right-click the Single Line Center tool and adjust its properties, such as reducing the width to 15, so the same setting is used for each letter. Once the border is added, we may need to edit some points, especially around corners, because the points created for the fill stitch do not always produce a clean single line center automatically. A quick check in 3D view helps reveal areas that need adjusting or point deletion.

To finish the two-color effect, we insert color changes between the fill stitch lettering and the single line center outlines. We can group all fill stitches together and all outlines together for one overall color change, or arrange each letter individually with its own color change between the fill and outline. As they show, the process is straightforward: trace the letter with fill stitch, change the element type, make small edits if needed, and then set the color sequence to create a clean two-color lettering effect.
