In this video, we show how to create arced lettering in Melco DesignShop Pro, whether it is placed above or below a design. We begin by selecting the lettering icon on the toolbar, clicking on the screen, and typing the text to be arced. For a top arc, we enable the checkbox for placing lettering on an arc, then open Arc Values. If this is the first time using the feature, we recommend starting with a value of 3 to see the initial result, then clicking OK and Apply.
We then adjust the lettering to improve the appearance by reducing the size and tightening the arc value. In the example, we reduce the lettering size to about .35 and change the arc value from 3 to 2, then apply the change. To tighten the spacing between words, we use the fine spacing tool, shown as the letter A with an arrow pointing left. Because fonts react differently to arc settings, we may need to experiment with size, spacing, and arc values to get the best result. We can also preview the lettering with the 3D button and continue refining the arc as needed.
To create a bottom arc underneath the design, we return to Arc Values and set the lettering to 180 degrees, which flips the arc and makes it counterclockwise. This places the lettering below the design while keeping the arc editable. We can continue tweaking the arc shape, but for bottom arcing, we will want to keep the setting at 180 degrees with a counterclockwise position.
