Daily Embroidery Machine Oiling and Maintenance Basics

In this video, we cover daily maintenance on the embroidery machine, including cleaning and oiling. Before we begin, we gather the basic tools needed for the job: the machine oil supplied in the tool kit, a needle oiler for placing more accurate drops of oil, a needle plate wrench for removing the needle plate when needed, and a paper towel or rag to wipe away excess oil.

The first oiling point is located behind the embroidery head at the hole labeled oil. We place eight drops of oil into this hole, and we do that approximately every 15 to 20 hours of machine use. The next oiling point is the aluminum thread take-up lever guide rail. We move the control panel out of the way, place a few drops of oil on one end of the rail, rub it in, and then wipe off the excess so only a light skim coat remains.

We then move the head to the opposite end by pressing plus 10 and 5, wait for the head to finish moving, and apply a few more drops to the other side of the same guide rail. Again, we rub the oil in and wipe off the excess. This guide rail should be oiled once a month. The final oiling area shown in this segment is on the bed arm, where there are three red oiling holes. We place one drop in the back hole, one drop in the center hole labeled oil, and one drop in the front hole once a month. If the oil point is not labeled oil, we skip that center hole every other month.

Keep your oil points easy to reach with a needle-nose pen oiler.
