In this video, we show how to oil the rotary hook on a Toyota ESP 9100. This is one of the routine maintenance steps on the machine, and the rotary hook, or the rail for the rotary hook, should be oiled every four hours of operation.
To begin, we remove the bobbin case from the rotary hook and then remove the throat plate from the machine. We also check for any debris behind the knife and clean it out before oiling. We do not blow on the rotary hook with our mouth, since moisture can cause machine parts to rust.
Once any excess debris has been removed, we turn the backmost knob on the right-hand side of the machine counterclockwise to expose the rail on the hook. The rail is located between the two hook sections. We then apply no more than two drops of oil and allow a few seconds for the lubrication to work through the area.
After oiling, we reinstall the throat plate and put the bobbin case back in place. It is also recommended to hoop two pieces of heavy backing and run the machine for a few minutes to make sure no oil will transfer and spot the material. After that, the machine is ready to sew on garments again.
