How to Oil a Toyota Embroidery Machine for Routine Maintenance

In this video, we review the recommended oiling procedure for a Toyota embroidery machine to help maintain performance over time. We first turn the power off before lubricating the machine, and we note that there are 31 oiling locations in total. The lubrication schedule includes the rotary hook rail every four hours, the presser foot drive shaft daily, the needle bar drive shaft daily, the presser foot needle bar drive shaft weekly, the inside of the arm weekly, the needle bars weekly, the inside of the cylinder bed monthly, and the needle bar felt packing monthly. We use LB5 embroidery machine oil, a hypo dot oil bottle, a dust remover, and an offset screwdriver.

We begin with the rail on the rotary hook, which is oiled every four hours of operation. We may rotate the hand wheel toward us for access, and it is recommended to remove the needle plate and bobbin case before oiling the hook. We then blow out thread and dust from the rotary hook with compressed air and apply a single drop of oil to the rail. After oiling, we press the trimming key two times to help lubricate the rail. For the presser foot drive shaft, we move the embroidery head to needle position number one and place one drop of oil in the red hole on the left side of the machine. To oil the needle bar drive shaft, we keep the head at needle position one and place one drop on the white plastic rail in the canal, then move to needle position 15 and place another drop on the rail.

For the weekly oiling points, we place the machine in needle position 15 and oil the two locations to the right of the safety cover, placing one drop on the top wick with the hypo dot and one drop in the bottom hole with the LB5. We then oil the inside of the arm at the red-marked spot below the hand wheel and at the red-marked spot toward the back of the same side of the machine, using one drop at each location. After moving the embroidery head to needle position one, we locate the silver gear behind the rail and place one drop in the hole on top of the gear. We also open the security cover to expose the 15 thread take-up levers and place one drop of oil on each needle bar.

For monthly lubrication, we oil the inside of the cylinder bed by placing one drop of LB5 in the red spot directly behind the needle plate. We also oil the needle bar felt packing on the front of the machine at the five red-marked locations between needles 2 and 3, 5 and 6, 8 and 9, 11 and 12, and 14 and 15, applying one drop of oil at each hole.

Keep your machine's oil points fresh with a needle-nose pen oiler.
