How to Use the Function Key on an Embroidery Machine

In this video, we show how to use the function key to access machine settings during embroidery. We can change the display to show either stitch count or sewing speed by pressing the function key, highlighting position 1 with the arrow key, selecting the desired option, and pressing set to confirm. When the machine is stopped, the total stitch count is displayed automatically even if RPM has been selected.

We then review sensor and stop functions. At position 2, we fine-tune the thread break sensor sensitivity from off or 1 through 5, where 1 is the most sensitive and 5 is the least. At position 3, we set the bobbin counter stop value by entering a number with the numeric keys and pressing set. If we want to cancel that setting, we press clear. When the counter exceeds the set value, the machine stops and displays a lower thread run out message with a beep, and we press the emergency stop button to cancel.

We also use the function menu to control stitch behavior. At position 4, we turn lock stitches on or off for the start and end of a design. At position 5, we increase satin stitch width from 0.1 to 0.5 millimeters by selecting values 1 through 5, or choose off to disengage the function. At position 6, we set a slow start for 2 to 9 stitches after a thread trim. At position 7, we limit continuous jump stitches so the machine can insert trims automatically, and at position 8, we set jump length so stitches longer than the selected length are converted into jumps.

Finally, we adjust trim and communication settings. At position 9, we set the thread tail length from 1 to 17 after a trim. At position A, we adjust thread trim timing from minus 10 to plus 10, with larger numbers creating a longer trimming delay. At position B, we match the machine's data communication speed to the computer by selecting 9600, 19200, or 38400 BPS. After each setting is confirmed with the set key, the machine returns to embroidery start mode.
