How to Set Needle Bar Height on the Tajima Neo

In this video, we show how to set the needle bar height properly on the Tajima Neo by first setting the upper and lower dead points. We begin by removing the needle plate, then pushing the needle bar down until it locks into place. Next, we turn the manual operating handle until the needle bar reaches its lowest position.

We then place the optional lower dead point gauge on the needle plate bracket, loosen the needle bar connecting stud, and press the needle bar down. We make sure the needle clamp holding screw is slightly to the right, then tighten the set screw on the needle bar connecting stud. After that, we perform a manual thread trim to bring the needle back up.

If a gauge is not available, we set the height by looking into the rotary hook at the lower dead point. At that position, we should be able to see at least half of the needle eye. To set the upper dead point, we loosen the upper dead stopper and rotate the manual operating handle until the needle bar is at its highest point.

We then push the upper dead stopper clamp all the way up and tighten the screw. We make sure the upper dead point stopper does not rub against the needle bar guide rail, then perform a manual thread trim to bring the needle up and return the machine to the stop position.

Since needle bar height directly affects needle setup, it’s worth pairing this adjustment with fresh embroidery needles.
