The most important oiling location found on the sewing head is the rotary hook. This device is located at the forward end of the lower horizontal shaft. The hook assembly contains the bobbin case, which in turn contains and tensions the bobbin thread. The hook assembly is made of two moving parts. The inner basket contains the bobbin case and is held in a non-rotating position with a restraining finger. The outside shell contains the hook point that picks up the loop of thread and forms the lock stitch. The rotary hook should be oiled at least once every eight hours. If the hook is an E-hook (eccentric hook) it should be oiled every two to three hours.
